At Hospices Civils de Lyon, the teams are federated by the Department of clinical research and innovation (DRCI). The Strategic Council defines and implements strategic research objectives.
Various structures enable researchers to conduct their studies: 26 joint research units in partnership with INSERM (French national institute of health and medical research) and CNRS (French national centre for scientific research), with industrial firms such as BioMérieux, with the world-class Lyonbiopôle competitiveness cluster, with IARC (International Agency for Research on Cancer, based in Lyon, affiliated with the World Health Organization) or with Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1.
