Hôpital Louis Pradel
Since 1969, the lung and heart hospital Louis Pradel gathers state-of-the-art expertise in numerous specialties : cardiology, cardiovascular and thoracic surgery, medical-surgical cardio-pediatrics, endocrinology, pneumology , anesthesia and intensive care, as well as critical care.
Center of excellence for research and for care, the hospital employs 1 100 medical and non-medical staff members. It welcomes and treats more than 10 000 patients every year.
It is the first center of cardiovascular and thoracic surgery in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes. It has also one of the first French centers for heart and lungs transplants (more than 50 transplants each year). It hosts the only medical-surgical cardio-pediatrics center of the region.
The Emergency Cardio Consultation allows to welcome and to take care of critical patients 24/7 (with more than 6 000 entries per year).
The hospital is also a major center for research, development of medical and surgical innovations an reference:
- It hosts a hospital teaching institute (OPéRa) dedicate to research on organs destruction mechanisms (heart, kidneys, liver) and on tissues damaged by cardiovascular diseases (diabetes, obesity, inflammatory diseases).
- Il owns four national centers of reference (hereditary cardiac rhythm trouble, rare lung diseases, hemophilia and other constitutional hemorrhagic diseases, Rendu-Osler diseases).
Since 2015, the hospital Louis Pradel is widely modernized in order to pursue its missions of a national and international reference hospital.
