Hôpital Femme Mère Enfant
The hospital Femme-Mère-Enfant (Woman-Mother-Child) has opened in 2008 and is entirely dedicated to the couple, the mother and the child. It is the unique permanent welcoming pole for pediatric emergencies in the greater Lyon area (82 000 entries per year) and it also owns a welcoming service for gynecologic emergencies.

The hospital Femme-Mère-Enfant is composed of two medical activities poles:
The pole of pediatric specialties offers multidisciplinary care for the whole range of pediatric, surgical and medical specialties, dedicated to the child.
Beyond medical care, the hospital Femme-Mère-Enfant offers a scholar and cultural program that is personalized for each child.
A particular attention is given to the transition between childhood and adulthood. The care pathway is constantly reevaluated to take into account the specificities of young adults.
Most of the pediatric services are labeled for their expertise on rare and orphan diseases. The hospital hosts, among others, the following services:
- Medical and surgical reference center for rare diseases of sexual development
- Reference center for hereditary diseases of metabolism
- Reference center for rare diseases of the kidneys
- Reference center of rare respirational diseases of the child
- Reference center for the child’s hearing
The pole for couples and newborns offers all the care linked to pregnancy, whether it is pathologic or not, within a state-of-the-art maternity and thanks to its dedicated multidisciplinary teams. It also accompanies and realizes assisted reproduction projects.
Beyond this, all the pathologies –whether they are cancerous or not– specific to women, can be treated.
Obstetrics:
- More than 4500 births per year. The hospital is one of the biggest maternities in the region
- Labeled level 3, it can welcome the most delicate pregnancies within a dedicated service. It owns a neonatal reanimation unit and a specific center to follow-up twin pregnancies.
- A psycho-parental unit offers specific care for patients having difficulties due to their recent maternity.
- The multidisciplinary center for prenatal diagnosis allows to confirm or not eventual pathologies of the child during the pregnancy and the earliest care possible, thanks to a collaboration with the specialized pediatric units.
- The service of reproduction medicine treats pathologies of infertility and accompanies families in medically assisted reproduction projects. It hosts the center of study and conservation of eggs and sperm.
Gynecology:
- The hospital Femme-Mère-Enfant offers transversal medical and surgical care for the whole range of gynecologic pathologies, including in the field of oncology (cancer).
